Being the Body Together
You did not come here today without your body. You may think you did based on how you feel, but we see you. We are so glad you are here. We know that you make that decision for yourself. A lot of you make that decision for your whole family . We are described in the New Testament of the Bible as the “body of Christ”, but what does that mean? What does that require?
Being the body means that all parts work together. If you lost an eye, you would know. If you lost your heart, you would die. What do your eyes see going on in this body? What do your ears hear going on around us? What does your heart, mind and soul tell you about being a part of the body of Christ?
I suggest to you today that we need to be aware of our spiritual body , the church, just as much as we are aware of our phyical body . Do you know who has not been here in a while? Do you care enough to call and welcome them back? Have you been through our directory lately ? That's a good way of reflecting on who all has joined themselves with us in this place. Here's the challenge. Look around. Stay connected with each other. Do not let body members fall apart or slip away. That's our task. We must continue to be the body together.
