Church Under Renovation: Are You?

There are a lot of changes going on around here. As I am writing this today , I hear saws running and hammers swinging as they break up old ground work. There's dust flying, remnants of tile laying around, debris being hauled away, and more materials scattered around for later use as part of this process. We appreciate the positive attitudes of every one during this three to four week project. Our last Sunday morning's two services went extremely well with your full cooperation. We hope that you are excited about the future results of these beautiful updates.

However, you know that the church is not the building. We hope that the changes to the building will only help excite us for our future plans as the church. The church is you. The church is me. The church is all of us or we. Therefore, I ask you today to consider what needs renovation in your life? Are you ready to get out the hammer and the saw and any tools necessary to make some improvements? What areas of your faith need improv ement? Has your prayer life become stagnant and dead? Has your Bible knowledge deteriorated in need of repair? Has your zeal and passion for the things of God been trampled on by years of wear and tear?

Jesus, the earthly son of a carpenter, is ready for you to employ him for your renewal. He will do for you what you cannot do for yourself, but we must be willing to let him in! What about the church as a whole? Is it time during this process for us to consider how we might have revival? How can we come together to make the church as beautiful and appealing as possible to those who need it? How can we take our differences, our weakness, and our sins and overcome them for the greater good? How can we build bridges, open doors, and ultimately overcome the ways of this world together? We have to all be willing to get to work with the blueprint laid before us in Philippians 2:3-5. “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus.” Let's get to work. Are you ready ?
