God’s Family
One of my favorite songs is “God’s Family .” The chorus reads: “Sometimes we laugh together, sometimes we cry. Sometimes we share together, heartaches and sighs. Sometimes we dream together of how it will be when we all get to heaven—God’s family.”
If we all truly hope to be together in heaven, then we must love one another here on earth. I John 4:7 -9 says, “let us love one another, for love comes from God. Whoever does not love does not know God because God is love.” God showed his love for us by sending his only son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
A few days ago we learned that one of our members, Karen Davis, will donate one of her kidneys to another one of our members, Tom Ledbetter, so that Tom might have a longer and better quality of life. Karen certainly knows God and is showing her Christian love for a brother in Christ. Please pray that God will bless both Tom and Karen on the day of the surgeries and during their recoveries.
We may not all be able to show our love for our brothers and sisters in such a big way, but let us all try to be more understanding, patient and compassionate with one another. In our earthly families, there are sometimes disagreements, misunderstandings and other problems, but we usually strive to work these things out and continue to love all the members of our family . In God’s family , our church family, there should be no difference.
May God forgive our shortcomings and bless our congregation as we work together to serve God and bring others to Him.
