God's Family
In Acts 2: 44-46 it reads, “All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods they gave to anyone as they had need. Everyday they continued to meet in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts."
For several years I thought this was a good example of how they did things back when the church was first established. My thoughts have changed due to the current events that have taken place over the past two months. I now realize that this show of support is how the church still works today.
The first event was back in February when my mom passed away. My extended family and I were overcome with gratitude for all the outpouring of cards, food, lodging, donations to Hospice and other fine works, and from the overall Love and Support that was shown by God's Family. This truly was an example of the church taking care of its family. The second example was just two weeks ago when a special announcement was made concerning those in the church who were having difficult times with the economy and recent layoffs. Again God's Family stepped up and over $4200.00 dollars was collected to take care of those in need. When God established his church through Jesus Christ he truly knew that compassion would be one of the key elements. We have all benefitted from the Love and Encouragement that comes from being a child of God.
May God bless you,
