God's Plan for Raising Our Children
How quickly the years go by. Already my family and I have worshipped with this church for over 14 years and it seems like only yesterday we moved here.
This past weekend our first daughter turned 21. She is now considered a full-fledged adult. We were wondering how it went by so fast. This is for all the parents who still have young people living at home. This is to let you know that this will happen before you know it. Just ask some of your brothers and sisters in Christ who have already experienced it.
As I thought about all the information and all the so called experts in the field, I think we'll all agree if we raise our kids as God has instructed us through his word that would be the best advice we could ever get. Eph. 6:1-4 reads, “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother which is the first commandment with a promise that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth. Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord." These Bible verses talk about the relationship between parents and their children. It also stresses the importance of training and teaching your children in God's instructions. Proverbs 1:8-9 talks about how children are encouraged to listen to their mother and father. I really don't want to debate whether the current childrearing experts are right or wrong on their methods of raising children; but I would suggest that you go with the tried and true words of God. That you Teach, Encourage and Love your
children with all your heart, soul and mind. With those methods I'm confident that the next generation will be greater than the last.
