GUILT
Ever felt really bad about something you said…something you did or something you did not do? We all deal with guilt on occasion. Some people are still dealing with matters committed years ago. I recently had a conversation with a young brother who is struggling with guilt. He is fighting himself over a situation occurring from a hasty wrong decision he recently made. The guilt from this situation is paralyzing him from committing his life to Christ and being baptized (which is the very place to go to have all the guilt and sins we carry dealt with). The blood of Christ is able to cleanse us from ALL our iniquities—PERIOD.
Here’s a couple of passages of scripture we explored and ones we might consider if we find ourselves struggling with the baggage of guilt…
1 John 1:9 — “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from All unrighteousness.”
James 5:6 — “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.”
Guilt wounds our spirits. But, by his wounds — and by God’s grace, we can be restored. He forgives us. It is time we start to forgive ourselves and each other.
