Keep Yourself Anchored
Some of my fondness memories of my youth and teenage years was going fishing with my dad. We'd take the boat out to Sanibel and spend the hole day fishing . Often we would not drop the anchor and just drift. We would be focused on fishing and after a half hour to an hour you'd realize that you had drifted a great distance from where you were. This could sometimes create a problem if you drifted into shallow water or onto a sandbar. The writer of Hebrews warns us about drifting in Hebrews 2:1 "We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away." He tells us to be careful about drifting away from Jesus teaching. Often in our christian walk we loose focus on how far we've drifted from our relationship with God. This type of drifting can also create problems for us. Relationships can suffer, our personal health can suffer and those who look to us for encouragement can all be damaged when we allow ourselves to drift from Gods word and our committment to do his will.
Let me encourage all of us to strive to stay ANCHORED in Gods word to be committed to one another each and everyday . May God bless you in your christian walk.
