“Knowing What's Up”

I am not here today. I am away with several of our youth for the Spring Retreat at Palmetto Bible Camp. I wanted to share with you the latest news related to the youth and family ministry of the church or “what's up with us.” It is my hope that you will want to know what we are doing. We also want to work together with you as the church.

Our Wednesday night Recharge program continues to go well with good attendance from our youth, their parents and other adults. I invite you to be a guest with us anytime on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. We also collected canned goods and men's deodorant in the month of April. We plan on donating those items directly to the local rescue mission in the month of May. This was all out of an attempt to put a lesson in action that we had about helping the homeless in our area.

In the month of April we studied about “outreach, evangelism and discipleship” in our Sunday morning teens class. On Wednesdays, we had a series on “Justice and Judgment: The Christian's Response to Social Issues.” In this series, we talked about poverty, homelessness, crime, despair, depression, being broken, disease, drugs, and sickness. All of these issues may never end until the world does, but how can Christians help those who have these problems?

We also recently had our second youth led service on a Sunday night. Please continue to support our young men's desire to learn and grow as leaders in our worship. In the future, it could be you who encourages them to be future teachers, leaders, preachers, deacons and elders. That's why these are schedule for the 4th Sunday nights each month. We hope soon to have our girls more involved as children's ministry assistants and teachers being mentored by our women of faith here. I am very excited to see where this leads us.

In the month of May, we will be having a children's ministry activity day for those a little younger as well. My hope is that the parents and kids of this age can unite together even now preparing us for the future. I will also be preaching later this month and meeting with Terron from the Biltmore Church in May to prepare for this Summer's West Memphis mission trip.

In all of these things, keep in mind why we do what we do. We truly want to the church that shares, the church that cares, and the church that lives out what we believe!
Blessings, Rob
