“Let It Snow, Bring the Rain, Spring Is Coming”

Who wants more snow? People who don’t get a lot of snow get excited when it comes. They make plans to enjoy it in various ways. Some people go sledding. Others build snowmen and take a lot of pictures. I am preparing for another twelve inches of snow or more as I write this. People here, even children, are not so excited anymore. Instead of having fun with the snow, people are shoveling it and blowing it around just to be able to travel and get around.

What about the rain? I would love to have some rain instead of snow, but what if that snow I mentioned was that amount of rain? It would actually do way more damage. That amount of rain can flood a whole city and bring mud, trees, current and debris along with it.

So, what’s the application here? Personally, we get snowed in by life’s circumstances. Maybe we can handle one or two things, but what do we do when it all comes at once? What about the rain? The same principle applies. You would like a little rain but not too much. People say “I was happy with the rain at first, but now I am ready for it to stop.”

Spiritually, we know that we are not in control. We are supposed to have faith in God’s plan. We know that life is not going to be without challenges, disappointments, setbacks, loss, and even tragedy. I cannot make the snow and the rain stop no matter how much I want to. I can ask God for less, but ultimately God decides the outcome. What about your life? Will you remain committed to your claim to Christianity no matter what? The Bible says in Matthew 7:24-25, “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.” So, if you are dealing with some things in your life right now, know this. Spring is coming.
