The Memphis Five

Duncan Blake, Rod Price, and Tim Godley from our congregation along with Terron Talley from the Biltmore congregation and Terry Short from the East Chestnut church gave five days to the North Side Church (formerly the Wonder City Church) in West Memphis, Arkansas. Our teens have given much with the mission camps in the inner city work there, now it was the adults’ turn.

This congregation has experienced good growth in a very poor area. The Missouri Street church there in West Memphis has worked with them to purchase an old church building which is in need of numerous
repairs.

Tim Godley shared, “we accomplished what we had set out to do. The people were excited that we were there. We put in a window and wired a speaker to the nursery. We wired a stove in the church kitchen, outside motion detection lights, and fixed light fixtures in the building. A primary task was building a 12 foot by 12 foot s torage building on the church grounds.

We worked together well; each one had abilities that made it go smoothly. We were blessed with the presence of Randy Short, Terry’s brother and missionary to Brazil. As we worked together, Randy shared about the work that he has been doing in Brazil for three decades.”
