People with Impact
As you look back over the years of your Christian walk you probably do as I do and think about those who played a role in helping you form your faith and who helped you to develop a closer relationship with God. As I was thinking about Will leaving and the two young men coming to interview for the youth minister position, my mind took me back to those men who were in their mid 20's who helped mold me when I was a teenager. Men like Steve Betts who taught our Wednesday night class and was always encouraging me even into my thirties. Men like his brother Cliff Betts and Gene Edgecomb who played on the church softball team and led our youth devotionals. Men that I could look up to and realize that they were young men that I wanted to model my life after.
I thought about the apostle Paul who encouraged Timothy who we have been studying about in Thessalonians on Wednesday nights. If you were to ask the three men I mentioned earlier about their role in my Christian walk they probably would have no idea of the important role that each one played.
Today I would like to mention some of our very own men like Brian Newberry who took Marissa and her boy friend Austin out to lunch when they visited the Cary church of Christ, Eric Bullard who teaches the middle school class in the fall and winter year after year, and last but not least our Phil Carland who will be leaving us this week. Phil has not only had an impact on our kids here but several young children while working at the Boys and Girls club. We'll miss you Phil just as we've missed Brian and several others that have been in and out of our lives. But we know that the IMPACT that they have had and continue to have will be long la sting for many years to come.
