Prayer, Faith, & Action
Have you heard the story of the two farmers who prayed for rain that they both desperately needed? If you have seen the movie Facing the Giants then you have. The only difference was their actions after they prayed. One farmer sat around and waited while the other farmer went out and prepared his fields. The farmer who had faith prayed expecting rain and this caused him to act. Often times we pray and we pray for different things “God I need a job”, “Father, please help me get a good grade on this test”, “Lord help me to get out of debt” and yet we fail to expect results and do our part. The farmer that went out and prepared his field believed that God was going to supply what he needed. How do we know this? His actions showed it. God loves us and wants to bless us but He also wants us to have faith and trust that He will. Our actions will show how much faith we have.
I will close with this thought and encouraging passage from James 5:17-18 Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops. If you look back at this story in I Kings 18:41-46 you will see that Elijah prayed very earnestly with his head between his knees. Then asked his servant to go check and tell him when he saw the rain coming. Next time you are praying for something think about your faith and your actions and see if they are in line with one another.
