Putting Prayer into Practice

Prayer is something that Christians do to communicate with God through Jesus. Prayer is an act of worship that keeps our relationship with God alive. God has done His part, and we seek to understand that through prayer. Prayer is an active discipline that requires participation. So, how can we put prayer into practice which naturally would increase the frequency and focus of our prayers?

First of all, you should plan to pray. Anything worth doing seems to be intentional, and prayer is just that. So, do you know when to pray? Do you know what to pray for? Do you know what time is best for you to pray? Have a plan. Make it a priority.

Secondly, have a purpose when you pray meaning this is why I’m praying and this is what I’m praying for. It’s not a mindless act. Engage your mind fully when you pray, and allow yourself to believe in what you are praying about or for. Also, prayer should have passion! Do you love to pray, or do you just pray out of obligation? A passion for prayer means that it’s not a burden for you but a privilege.

Finally, understand the peace that comes through prayer. We simply can’t do it all. We need help and peace that only comes from God when we give Him control. Prayer gives you peace by letting the Lord lead you, guide you, direct you and protect you.

I am so thankful for the opportunity to pray. I am grateful to those who pray for me. May we all become people more devoted to prayer as we seek to put the principles of it into practice.
