Tribute to a Saint/"Tell Them".....

I had a wonderful mother—Ruby Rivers. Some of you knew her well. I think of her often. She inspired me, taught me, set me on the pathway to the salvation in Christ I now enjoy. As I was thinking about what to write, a message concerning love came to my mind, my spirit... and thus-a motherly message given to me by her at the door to eternal life when she was transitioning from this life into an eternity with the Jesus she loved.

I was privileged to spend those final days, hours, minutes, seconds with her. In her final day or two, my sisters and I split up the night vigil over her. My watch was from 12 midnight to 3 am. As I sat before her one evening, my mother began talking afar off and she started to repeat the following several times—"tell them"..."tell them"… "please tell them". To this I replied, "Tell them what?" She turned and smiled at me and said, "Tell them to love one another—tell them." So to you this day through me, from her, one of our own... forever...Sister Ruby Rivers. Let us endeavor to do just that, genuinely loving our local family of God.

John 13:34-35 A new commandment I give you: Love one another; as I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.

1 John 4:12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.
