Who Do We Think We're Fooling

We live in a society today where people try to put the best light on everything. We watch advertisers tell us all the positives about certain products and how wonderful they are just to be disappointed with them later when we realize they have several shortcomings. We also do this in our jobs when we give a presentation and share only the facts which put a better light on our products.

Sometimes even in our relationships we try to fool people into believing that we are one way when actually we're not at all like we come across. What usually happens is products fail, jobs get lost and relationships crumble.

These results always bring frustration and disappointment into our lives. But none of these live up to the hurt we experience when we try to fool God. Psalms 139:1-4 says, “O Lord you have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise. You perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down. You are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O Lord.”

Our society has taught us that by fooling people we can get the edge that we need. With our relationship with God this just doesn't work. He wants us to be sincere not only to Him but also to our brothers and sisters in Christ and to the world around us. Let us all strive to be more transparent in our Christian walk.
