Thirteen teens arrived two Mondays ago to a camp like no other. At the onset of their arrival the games began. The way Mission Camp works is this… We simulate a real life missionary experience then we stop the game and talk about what we have learned. The bar is set extremely high and the teens
nev er fail to come up t o our expectations.
We make it very clear from the beginning that the Mission of God is serious business and we are not here to goof off. We are here to cram as much information and mission experience into the hearts and souls in a five-day period as possible. By the end of the week these teens have learned about culture shock and felt it. They spent half a day learning how to learn a foreign language and leave with the confidence that they can do it. The trainees spent many hours learning from former missionaries how to get and stay spiritually strong. They learn about the missionary life cycle, the importance of understanding the target people group’s world view, how to use media for missions, and much more. We were blessed toward the end to have Steve and Diana Teel share with the trainees how to make choices for marriage with missions in mind.
These trainees left with much to ponder and put into practice. Please pray that in these formative years the teens will see clearly the plans God has laid out for them to do.
