Can you remember the days of one phone line, the minister and secretary sharing time for dial-up internet? Do you remember the amplifier for the sound system in a closet in the foyer and Jule Miller filmstrips? Can you remember the Sound and Audio room being setup? Ever used an overhead projector, slide projector or a television with a VHS video player or DVD player? Have you ever picked up a tract on a topic that you were in terested in? Ever read Carolina Christian? Remember when we started using wireless microphones, a portable power point projector and screen? Can you remember getting a fax machine or DSL where all the computers were networked together? Do you know what a blog is or an mp3 or mpeg4 file? Ever heard of Audacity or Easy Worship software? Did you know that we have a Facebook page, a blog and can download audio sermon files from our website www.hvlcoc.org or listen to them as a podcast at: http://itunes.apple.com/podcast/hendersonvillechurch-christ/id285884199? Do you enjoy the rich color in your bulletin from the color copier in the workroom? These things are all a part of the Communications and Technology ministry.
Without servants the ministry would not exist. Have you ever followed Floyd Grindstaff or Richard Warren around to see what all they do, you would be surprised! Ever watch the wide eyed anticipation of Jonathan Williams and Matt Carpenter working feverously behind the scenes in the audio/video room? A moment of time can make a big difference with a video or audio presentation! The 2011 budget for Communications & Technology will be around $3000 and includes the church website, internet access, Yellow Page ad, phone system and copy machine contracts, software and licenses, library books, tracts and Carolina Christian just to name a few. Did you know that we are moving toward video recording of services and using a computer kiosk in the foyer to let people know who we are? We have plans of sending live video to the nursery so attendants can participate more with worship. Want to help out in this aspect of worship? Are you technical minded and have audio, video, computer or webpage experience? Do you have ideas or questions about the budget or our ministry? We’ll be glad to answer them.
